Duck Smart.

Bike Cleaning Time!

I Won a Twitter retweet competiton held by some company called DuckSmart, who make some super duper cleaning stuff! Never thought I would win, but went in for it any way, and yes, I had a tweet back,  "and the Winner is" Me! great news, sent them back a DM (direct message) waited a week, as it was the Bank Holiday, and thought the post would be late, after a few days, just gave them a tweet to say my Prize had not turned up yet, "No problem" said DuckSmart it's in the post! 2 days later it turned up.

3 Bottles of so called Bike Cleaning stuff! Yeah  right I though, that can go with all the other bike cleaning stuff, and will get around to using it sooner or later, well, as it turns out, I went on a rather long ride, (well it was for me) to Stratford Stadium from Harlow vie the Tow-path, as I was not going to finish work that morning until 06.00. I managed to do a shift swap, so finished at 04.00 in stead, so on the Sunday, off we set with 12 other Keen cyclist from Harlow Town and set off at 09.00

Well to cut a long story short, had the usual 7 punctures among us, got there saw the Stadium, got wet, and went back! Felling a bit tired, so, with all the mud and dirt the Trek 29er Marlin Hardtail got Dirty!

So, now onto the Bike cleaning stuff from this DuckSmart lot, checked out there website DuckSmart and read how the best way to use the stuff, when I found out, it's not just any ol cleaning stuff, it's a bit different!

Followed the Instructions on the Can (so to speak)

Here is a Video of the Bike after the ride, not too dirty, but still dirty all the same!

OK, got the Bike Stand out, (Amazon) Wet the 29er down, brushed off a bit of dirt, then got the DuckSmart stuff out the Box!

Used something called "Earth Mover" Sprayed this stuff on, and it done something different, "It Foamed Up" not too worry it was supposed to do that, but the moment you set about it with a cloth or brush, you could tell it was different cleaning stuff!

Straight off it started to foam up, getting rid of dirt and everything else in it's way, as it was cleaning it was leaving a shine! Just look at the pictures of the Tyes and wheels! Theses are over 2 years old, and i had never had them come up just like the day it was bought from http://www.cyclesuk.com/1281/clearance-bikes.aspx for the London to Brighton ride!

Wet down then spray with Earth Mover!
Bike wetted down
Even before I've finished, you can see the results are going to be good, with no hard work!

Theses Wheels are 2 years old! Cycled over a 1000 Miles! And they look look brand New!
Pictures just do not do this DuckSmart justice! they are like Brand New! Honest

Gleaming!

Just look at the Mud Guard! One clean, one not!

Just see the shine! And I haven't even polished the Bike!

Here is a Video of the bike after the clean up, what do you think of it!

Thank you DuckSmart for Picking me on the Competition Friday! it's the best thing that has happened to me since i came across the new Silicone by @juliasilicone!

Besty Cleaning Stuff Ever!

BTR Direct Bike Bag Review

This time we have a different kind of bike bag for review, different you say!..... How?

It sits on your cross bar attached by Velcro straps and strapped to the header stem.

Say Hello to the BTR Direct Bike Bag
It has place to keep your Mobile phone dry and dust free! built into the lid is a  phone holder you can use whilst still in the bag! (to makes calls use a Bluetooth ear piece).

                                                    Underside with the Velcro straps

Right side view, it has a reflective strip running along the side, very well thought out solid design, so it keeps it shape on the sides when you have got a lot of items in the bag!

The stitching and zip are well constructed and the zip runs all the way round from top to bottom, in both directions ideal if you are Right or Left handed.

Extension ear phone cable for your I Pod, phone, portable speakers etc
Plenty of room in there for all sorts of stuff!
This is the very cleverly designed front lid flap, if you unzip the top lid  you will find a padded pocket flap that allows you to place your Mobile phone, mini tablet, or navigation device inside.

Front cover with the I phone in place
As you can see it was easy enough to place in and will be able to use from the outside, ideal for map reading etc

Easy to change from one screen to the other whilst the phone is still in the bag.
Bag attached to the top cross bar
Fitted to a road bike for those much longer rides.

One of the Best price cycling accessories we have ever come across!

UPDATE

The bag has been used plenty of times now, it got a good soaking the other Saturday on a ride out, the contents were all kept dry, and the bag has kept its shape, it took 3 days to dry my shoes, so that is a idea on how wet the bag got!
Once the bag dried out, it was just a case of  wipeing away the moisture from the phone compartment!
Zips are still going fine, no snags or catches.

Still recommend this bag as good cycling accessory for any bike trip!

DuckSmart Bikeezee

The Lads from Ducksmart have just dropped a bit of Bike ezee in the letter box, this is a new one on me, have seen it up on the shelf, but now I have my grubby mitts on it, so, what is it, it's a Bike cleaner, with a bit of a twist!

It Smells!

It Smells of Bananas! serious! Bananas!

Right, why Bananas, I will try to find out, I think maybe Pineapple would also be nice, and Strawberry as well, may suggest that to them.

Instructions

Spray on bike and it will leave your bike looking shinny and new!
You need to give it a rub here and there of course with a Micro fiber cloth to get it looking like brand new!

Review on the ILE Seat bag

ILE Seat Bag Review

Saddle bag's, are a bit like Marmite you either love them or hate them! So for the lovers or needer's we got one lined up for you, courtesy of the lads at  "Lead out",
"Who"  I hear you say!

Check them out here........

http://lead-out.co.uk

Impressive or what!
We have here a "Tardis" of a saddle bag! It looks tiny but Mary Poppins would give her eye teeth for this little beauty.

The name is "ILE Seat Bag" (Inside Line Equipment) on opening it out of the packet, my first thought was, how small it was compared to the bag I use, I'll never get all my gear in that!

It's so Small! compared to my Cycle bag!

The Material the ILE Cycle bag is constructed out of is a durable but lightweight XPAC Sailcloth,  which means it is going to be tough, and stand up to all weather's. The bag comes with an adjustable strap attachment with bayonet buckle so it can be secured under the seat, and then tightened.

                                                                  Sturdy buckle
Has a solid feel to it.
A nifty accessory to the buckle is the quick release button, and the Auto-lock buckle keeps bag secured under the seat.

I found it was very easy to attach to the seat, with a Velcro patch for the flap to fix to, it was large enough to be able to adjust to every angle.

A very big difference in size to my other cycle bag!
The overall look of this is just Amazing, small, compact and has a great feel to it, thats great but will everything that is in my bag fit back in to the ILE, here goes!

Bike Tool pouch
Inner Tube
Cycle Lock
Tyre Leavers (Not shown in photo)

In goes the Bike Tool Pouch
Inner tube, and lock also there along with the Tyre levers!
Now you know why I called it the "Tardis" it just handled the lot! and still had space left for a few Jelly babies!
The ILE Cycle Seat bag stays just where it should, behind the seat pad, even when fully loaded and does not flop about, it also takes up a lot less room than any other cycle seat bag we have tried!

There was a lot of space saved by using this bag compared to any others, [and I've gone through a few, ask the wife!] it didn't feel over stretched and it also has a great flap that comes over the front of the opening, which also has a tag on the end so I could fix the strap through it to hold it even more securely in place.
When parking up your bike, you may feel you don't want to leave the stuff inside the bag, instead of emptying it simply un-clip it and take it with you, easy as that!

Look at the space it has saved!
Now the rear light is much better sited to be seen, and I have also fixed a mudguard just to show how much space the bag has saved!

Conclusion

A Terrific little seat bag, made from strong sail materials, with a first class buckle and strap.

At first sight, you think the bag will be too small, and will not hold much, but you just need to try this one to know that it is more that a bit Special in the way of design and space saving!

A little bit of how the ILE range came about

A bit of background blurb:

ILE (Inside Line Equipment) bags were created while in the saddle of a bicycle - on the way to the local circuit or cross race, or riding home with a bag of groceries. They are designed with strength and simplicity in mind, and the style and elegance found in cycling itself. ILE use the toughest materials, and best machines, to make durable bags of all types. Lifetime warranty on materials and craftsmanship.

The brand is a great innovative one and is pretty much the brainchild of Eric Fisher, who until recent expansion personally made all of the bags in his small workshop in downtown San Fran. He has since expanded to a larger office/factory in San Fran.
The Seat Bag is a great example of the innovative, simple but very cool bags that he produces.

The link to the product on Lead-out site is: http://lead-out.co.uk/index.php/bags/ile-seat-bag.html

As far as Lead Out goes- they  are a relatively new on line shop, but there brief  to source products and brands that are a little different, but always very high quality. They pride themselves on having very cool brands (ILE) and also brands that are at the cutting edge of performance such as Spada, MCFK, FRM and more.

One of the most amazing things we have done a review on!
