Close Pass

Operation Close Pass is an initiative being rolled out by police forces across the UK to reduce the number of accidents caused by drivers not giving enough space to people riding bikes.
Enough Said... Well No, Not exactly, I have been sent a rear Cycle Camera and bike light combination, a very simple device that will record the Close Pass Evidence that could lead to proving evidence of you being passed too close by the vehicle over taking you, so depending on which Police Force area you live in, will depend on the way it is handled, but basically once you have captured the evidence on your camera head to your area Police force Website and look for the link to reporting a Close Pass.
West Midlands Police Force became the first force in the country to proactively target "close pass" drivers who endanger riders.
The Law regarding the Overtaking of Cyclists a long one, but very easy to understand, over take a cyclist leave plenty of room, 1.5 meters at least, but over 30mph and pass by the width of a car, just think if it was your daughter, son on that bike, would you pass by so close.

I'm not going into the Love Hate of the Cyclist V The Car, I'm here to give a "Free No Paid review on a Rear facing Camera and light combination, and I must just say after getting the DVR80 out of the box, I was so surprised on the great Quality Build and Ease of use, even though I did read the instruction sheet well after I turned it on and did my first recording!
The high quality of the box the DVR80 came in was a real surprise as well, the quality and design really did impress me, and the high-quality paper that was the instruction sheet was above your usual norm for a rear camera light, so well done to tooo Cycling for this design, it certainty gave me a very good First Impression!

What can the DVR80 Do for the Cycling Cyclist..

It can Be seen over 1 Mile+ Away

The DVR80 has Up to 9.5 Hours Recording HD 1080P Video Low Light Footage

The high Quality of the HD Sound Recording is spot on.

Auto-loop & Crash-Protect Files (Saves you having to keep uploading the device or card to clear the camera for new footage)

Tooo Cycling have named there Rear facing Camera Light as DVR80, (Not to sure if this is a first generation camera) It simply fits like any other rear bike light on the seat post, (Tooo Cycling have included a Aero seat post fitting) so you have a added bonus of a rear red light as well as the rear facing camera with a 9.5 hours of recording time in 1080FPS, The files that will be recorded are automatically over written, one benefit I feel is you don't need to keep plugging into the laptop to rewrite the SD Card, The DVR80 can handle SD cards 16 to 128G (When ordering direct the SD card can be added to the order, or use your own.

Tooo Cycling have made it possible to record audio, Ideal if a close pass happens and you shout the vehicle registration number, or if your at the scene of a accident to record what happened, in the event of a crash (Hopefully never to be used) files are automatically saved so it will not be over written.

Night time recording was also impressive for such a small device.

Hand held test of the tooo Cycling DVR80 Camera Light, must say very impressed with the way the DVR80 handled the hand shaking. sound quality as well very good.

Small Practical Rear Light.

Great high quality packaging.

Designed with Real Performance in mind!

Easy to mount and use.

More testing will be made on the DVR80 real Soon.

Seat post mounting, On my Gravel bike I ride with a large BTR Rear Wedge Seat bag (As on my review blog, well recommended from BTR, but found it hard to simply clip on and off, its a simple case of just pushing the mount round to the side and the connect the DVR80 in place, then reposition it, if you are using a rear saddle bag, make sure that any straps hanging are tied up out of the way of the lens.

Clip it on the mount then slide it back to the rear position.
