Cycle Jersey Review Relaxed Fit Size Medium.

This review on a custom cycling cycle shirt came about from a idea on the Harlow Cycling Group, the members of the group wanted a kind of team shirt, a cycle jersey which would be recognized by other riders and the group when we all meet up at rides, you may have found your self in the same position telling people you do not know "I will see you at the ride" and when the time comes to meet up you have no clue who your looking for! and you end up as Billy No Mates!
There are  just over 300 Harlow Cycling Group members, it is not run as a Club, we just chat, and go for rides, post up story's and any cycling related news etc, this was where we first started to kick around ideas for a Group Cycling Jersey, no easy thing to do with so many members all wanting something different! I posted a tweet on twitter and Purple Mustard picked up the tweet and made an offer to print a cycling jersey for a review, this was great news apart from no one could decide on a Group Cycle Jersey design!
Tom from Purple Mustard said he could help out on a design, I jumped at this offer as the amount of chat in the cycling group was going crazy !
"Leave it with me" said Tom and he got back to me with a PDF file with a Cycling Jersey Design, and I must say I personally liked it!

Harlow Cycling Group Cycle shirt rear view.
Front View.
Colour and design wise the Cycle Jersey is the same as the PDF which was sent to me vie Email from Tom's department, I am amazed at how they printed the design on to the shirt, material wise the Purple Mustard jersey designed shirt is 100% Polyester made with Performance material that breaths etc, Three rear pockets, Round neck with a 1/4 zip, material is nice and soft to the touch, I asked for a Medium, and must say was surprised when it came in the post as a nice fit, I was a bit worried I ordered the wrong size, but the Medium came up a nice fit for me, not too tight, just right, comfortable for me to wear.

Round neck.

Quarter zip.

Made and printed in the UK.
I asked for @tdf97 to be printed on the sleeve.

Purple Mustard Logo on the other arm.

Harlow Cycling Group printed on the rear of the shirt.

Close up of the Cyclist in print.
3 Rear pockets.

Nice deep design.

Two type of road shirts are available, a Relaxed fit, (Featured Here) and a Race fit, with would be more body hugging, on the MTB Cycle jersey, (Yes, Purple Mustard do a MTB Shirt) you can choose between two types, a Standard, and also a Slim fit, so check to make sure you order the right size and shirt style as these are Custom made Specials!

Purple Mustard also came up with a MTB Shirt for us at the Harlow Cycling Group to take a look at, long sleeve, no rear pockets and a "V" neck, and came in the standard size which just fits me perfectly!
And I "Love it", when I tried this one one it just felt right straightaway I felt as it it was made just for me, the feel and quality is very good, sleeves just the right size, good enough to wear out and about as a everyday top!

MTB Cycle Jersey Long sleeve V Neck.

Same high quality printing on the MTB shirt.

V neck feel and fit perfectly round my neck.

Nice @tdf79 on sleeve.

Purple Mustard Logo.

Rear view,

Looks great.

Its been great working with Tim Bishop, Sophia, and every one involved in the making of theses custom cycling jersey for review, I would like to say a "Thank You" to all, you have done a great job!

Check out the items the people at Purple Mustard can print on, basically anything, you name it they can print it!

I will be adding photos and comment in due course on how well the jersey wear, and come out in the wash, so do look out for any updates.

BZ Optics Worlds first Photochromatic Bi-Focal Sports Glasses.

BZ Optics Bi-Focal Cycling Glasses review.

The Worlds First Bi-Focal Sport glasses.

How the Bi-Focals came to light.
http://www.bzoptics.com/new-cover-page-1/

PHO White Photochromic Sport Glasses.

The following is how the BZ Optics describe there range on there website.

The world’s first bi focal photochromic sunglasses, featuring high impact UV activated photochromic lenses which transition from clear (Cat0) in low or no light to dark (Cat2) in full sun. The bi focal magnification which is moulded discretely into the rear of the lens is available in +1.50, +2.00 and +2.50 powers. The TR90 super light weight hybrid frame has dual moulded non slip flexible temples ideal for wearing under open or full face helmets. The adjustable non slip nose piece ensures optimum fit and comfort for all face shapes. PHO range is also available with non powered photochromic or blue mirror lenses.

BZ Optics.

Please note this is not the case the BZ Optics arrive in, will arrive in a hard shell case with a cleaning cloth supplied.

Take a look at how the lads at BZ Optics have explained more on how they came about the range of sport glasses here on this link.http://www.bzoptics.com/new-cover-page-1/

Frame options are :
White with blue nose piece, lens clips and dual molded temples.
Graphite with grey nose piece, lens clips and dual molded temples.
Fluoro Yellow with grey nose piece, lens clips and dual molded temples.
While the glasses were originally developed for cycling they are ideal for many other applications and sports.

On review here is a Bi-Focal pair of sport glasses from BZ Optics that I came across at the London Bike Show in February, Scott Birdsall and  Kevin Barr came all the way from Australia to the London Bike Show to exhibit the BZ Optics range, I found them both great to chat to, and they know there range of sport glasses, and a great laugh as well!
The pair of BZ Optics sport glasses they passed me to review was PHO White Photochromic Sport Glasses pair, with a Focal lens of 1.5 placed on the bottom of the lens.

When i was speaking to Scott and Kevin they told me the frame are made from Grilamid TR90® thermoplastic material, now I do know that most sport glasses are made from this material which is extremely flexible, durable, highly resistant to chemicals and UV and lightweight. It makes it the perfect material for high performance eye wear of the BZ Optics range.

 Adjustable non slip nose piece.

Found the nose piece felt great, had no problems with the frames moving on the bridge of my nose.

Out on a ride on a very cold day, the PHO White Photochromic Sport Glasses felt great to wear, wind was kept away from my eyes, and the Photochromic lens worked great, being clear when I first set off, and then becoming darker as the ride went on, lens are nice and wide as well.

It took me at least two rides to get used to the fact that I can now read the computer on the bike!
At first I could not see the benefit of the small bi-focal readers in the base of the lens, as I was still moving my head to read the display with the main lens, but after the second ride out got used to the position and realized I was reading the display much clearer than I have done before!
I will be taking these out on more rides to test for misting as on the rides I have done, no misting occurred at any time, slight rain seemed to just run off the lens, although I was not (lucky enough) caught in a downpour!

Bosch ART 23 SL Garden strimmer review.

 The Sun is out!

Bosch ART 23 SL Corded grass trimmer, 280watt.

"What has a Bosch garden trimmer got to do with cycling" I hear you all say!
My one gave up the ghost, so I set about getting a New one to replace a very faithful garden trimmer I owned for a number of years, and it was on line at Argos in Harlow I found this Bosch ART 23 SL garden trimmer for a amazing price of £19.99!

Brand New model!
  • Model number: ART 23 SL.
Features:
  • 280 watts.
  • Cutting width 23cm.
  • Corded6m cable.
  • Auto line feed - feeds out of the reel automatically.

  • Packed nice and neat in the box.

    Easy to put together.

Remove the safety bung and simply push the pole together, line up the clip.

Safety rubber removed, clip stud in place.

Semi-automatic line, which cuts with a 23 centimeter width.

Fitting the safety guard could not be made any easier, just locate, turn the guard, ans screw in the supplied screw.

    Semi auto feed wire.

All finished, great quality, easy to put together, light, only down side is the length of the power cord, really could do with a bit more length.

That was the furthest I could go with out adding a extension lead.

Before the Bosch ART 23 SL Trimmer.

After the Bosch ART 23 SL Trimmer.

Trims up edges a real treat!
General information:
  • Weight 1.7kg.
  • Manufacturer's 2 year guarantee.
MY Verdict: For small gardens a great piece of kit, so easy to put together, light, not much vibration on the hands, down side is the power cable could do with a bit more length, but the length is stated on the box.

I managed to find a real bargain on the Argos website, I managed to get hold of this little gem for the amazing price of £19.99. the listed price is £24.99, not a bad price, but not as good as the 19.99!

All in al a terrific tool, would recommend this for any small garden area.

AMO Sports Sunglasses IRONCATCHER model on review.

AMO SPORTS SUNGLASSES

 http://www.amosunglasses.com/

 AMO: Advanced Multisport Optics

Premium Sunglasses.

‘Designed by athletes’

AMO Sports Sunglasses, Designed by athletes, for triathlon, trail running, ultra-running, marathon running, cycling and mountain-biking and loads more sports!

On review I have a really well designed pair of  sport glasses from a company called AMO, click the link here to take you to there story on how the AMO brand came about, but be sure to pop back to read the rest of my review here. http://www.amosunglasses.com/about-amo/amo-s-story

AMO Sports glasses Ironcatcher.

Whats in the box : Well, once you get the AMO's out the box, you will find a "Bullet Glass Case" that really does look the part! and it gets better, once you read about the spec on the AMO's website you will read that they have thought there designs through from grass routes sport upwards!

AMO

Love the Bullet Glass case the Ironcatcher comes in!
On the AMO Website when ordering you can chose either Sport Case or a Bullet one, the kind people from AMO have dispatched the Bullet case for me on this review, a very nice strong case this one, holds the Ironcatcher plus the spare lens and cloth with no trouble, not to sure if this is a dearer option when ordering, so be sure to check your order first, I have check and the price does not go up or down for either case.
Limited time there is a 20%  off code on there website!

Frame Spec: The frame is made from Grilamid®TR-90, so they have this right, it makes them strong,  and the Grilamid TR-90 is a homopolyamide nylon characterized by an extremely high alternative bending strength, low density and a high resistance to chemical and UV damage, all  Frames that are made from the  Grilamid TR90 specification are  lightweight, resistant to stress cracking and material fatigue and stand up well against UV exposure and extreme temperatures, the frames are really flexible so you will not be  breaking these in a hurry!

AMO Advance Multisport Optics.

LENS SPEC: AMO's sports sunglasses come with a polycarbonate lens as standard. but AMO also offer a choice of high performance lenses on there website right  across the  range of Typhoon, Thunderstorm and Transformer series sunglasses.

Yellow Lens Premium Polycarbonate Yellow Lens.

Model types:  I have the Ironcatcher model here on review, AMO offer 3 range's of Sport cycling glasses on there website listed for the road cyclist, plus a range for the mountain biker as well.
Each and every pair have the great Grilamid®TR-90 frame, and you also have a fantastic range of lenses to chose from which you decide on when placing a order on there website.

The AMO lens I have been sent are the  premium polycarbonate mirror finish dark lens, and the Yellow ones, you can change the colour of the arms on the ordering section as well, so lots of choice weather you are running, rowing, road cycling or on the mountain bike and any other action sport like triathlons Iron man events!

Lens change instruction: I personally found the AMO Ironcatcher lens to the easiest I have ever had the pleasure to try! I will run through with you on how to change them from there instruction sheet.
Grip the lens in the palm of your hands.

Gently pull the frame away at the center and unclip the lens.

Pull the lens away.
Finally get the new lens, fix new lens to corner first, then clip lens into center again in the grooves and click into place using the palm of your hand.
Fix new lens to corner first.

Clip lens into center again in the grooves and click into place using the palm of your hand. easy as that!

A Cold Ride Out!
My Verdict: Once out on a ride the AMO felt great, fogging was kept to a minimum due to the air vent, and these work really well, on a ride with the rain and wind coming at me from all sides the AMO Ironcatcher did the trick of helping to keep the vision clear, making it a whole lot safer to cycle.

Arms: I found the arms were really easy to change, the AMO Ironcatcher comes with a pair of arms if you fancy going jogging in them, in fact the whole frame felt great and unbreakable under normal use.

Lens: If you have ever owned a decent pair of cycling glasses, then the last  last thing you want to do with them is drop them right! and when that happens your "Heart" misses a beat!  and that is what happened to me! I accidentally dropped them, and when I picked them up to check the frame and lens noticed a scratch on the left lens, I tried to get it out by rubbing but cant shift it, most glasses when this happens the scratch get in your line of vision and I noticed even though the lens had a scratch it did not show up on them when I put them on, so no problem, I will try to find out if the Ironcatcher has a protective coating on the lens.

AMO have explained the Revo coating more to me.
The Revo coating on the lens explained here,  http://www.amosunglasses.com/technology/lens-coatings
AMO Do say on there website the Revo lens coating is more susceptible to scratching than AMO's other lenses.
The AMO lifetime guarantee does not include scratches to the Revo coatings.

Out on the ride: On a sunny day the AMO Ironcatcher are great for keeping the Sun out your eyes, and the wind around the face, perfect for the sunny ride out.

AMO Advance Multisport Optics.
All set for a very wet ride out to test the AMO Ironcatcher on a very wet day!
I Have been out with the AMO on a very heavy down pour and they seemed to cope well with the rain clearing off the lens, and at no time did they mist or fog up on the inside of the lens, but today's ride was a bit different, with very light rain and  wind from all sides all the time I was out on the ride, and I found the AMO just could not cope with this sort of fine rain, was a case of removing them to somewhere safe for a while until the rain stopped.

I was expecting the AMO Lens I was wearing to have the Hydrohobic water repellent coating on the lens, so I was surprised when the lens could not cope with the light drizzle!

The AMO had the worst the weather could throw at them!
Will I still be using the AMO on my next ride: You bet I will!
I like them, they do the job well in the right condition, comfortable and a great design, how well the lens will stand up to my treatment that is another mater!
Value for money, compares reasonable with other on the market..

A MTB ride around the woods, the AMO gave a clear vision ahead, going from sun to the darker area of the woodlands was no problem.
