Whats in the Box :
One x HL-4R Helmet Mountable Headlight.
1 X Micro USB charge cord.
1 X 3M adhesive mount.
1 X Pouch.
1 X Instruction sheet.

Unilite have produced a neat light weight helmet head torch, easy to use, easy charge, and has a great range of light settings..

Operation:  On the top of the HL-4R You will see a black switch, simply give it a push, WARNING if you have this light in your hand point it away from your eyes before you turn it on, as it is a very bright light, and will blind you for a few seconds,
Switch setting is very easy, High, Middle, and Low, with two Red led's that will flash and stay on, with a S.O.S mode as well, to make the Unilite change to the Red Led's press and hold the black button, you can then simply cycle through the Red settings.

On/Off switch.

Headband: The HL-4R come with a adjustable non slip silicone headband, the silicone used is very similar to the silicone on your cycling shorts around the legs, so should stay in place.
Helmet Fitting: Will be playing around with several cycle helmets with this light, there is a 3M adhesive mount supplied in the box, this is a nice touch, easy to fit, simply remove the head band.
A Slit either side.

Position the edge of the strap in the gap and release the strap.

Same again on the other side to remove the head strap completely.

Before attaching the 3M adhesive pad make sure it is the right way up, the upper tabs pointing upwards on the helmet to be fixed to,
Charge light indicator, goes from Red to Green when fully charged.

USB Dust cover.

Remove the dust cover to expose the Mini Usb charge point, simply insert the cable and either plug into a PC or charger with a USB slot.

I Got a bit carried away and tried in on a hat.

Hello

Check this video out for the light setting..
275 Lumens of White Cree LED's

https://www.torchdirect.co.uk/unilite-head-torch-range/unilite-hl-4r-rechargeable-led-head-torch.html

Priced at £39.99
Torch Direct stock the light, and for a Head light with this spec I feel it is a good buy, time will tell, as I plan to use it a lot, so will be updating the review blog as soon as I can...
The light has a multitude of uses, its coming up for Christmas, use it in the dark loft to get the Christmas tree down, your taking your dog for a walk, simply place it on your head, Angle the light to see the way, you have to get up for work in the morning on the early shift, place it on your head, switch it on and then lock the house and go off to work, see where you are to unlock the garage, on a Narrow boat, need to jump ashore, place on head, leaves your hands free to cling onto the side of the boat, if your a plumber, electrician, a building surveyor, a house assessment insurance man, you all need this light, it will come in handy I promise you.

As you can see they know how to network there product, I have spoken to them on Twiter and there replies are fast, any question, problems just simply give them a shout..

It's Not Just A Cycle Light.

Don't think just because I have a light on review on a cycling blog that the light is just a cycle light, the H-4R is more than that....

Its a ideal head torch if you are in the building trade, a Electrician for example... do you need to see the fuse board...

How about a house surveyor, need more light to inspect the timbers....

Without the HL-4R turned on, dark place to check over..

With the HL-4R Turned on, much more light...

Plumbers, getting under the bath to look, ideal head torch..

One use I find for the HL-4R is when I leave the house in the early morning darkness, makes it easier to lock the house up and open the garage door...

Keep the HL-4R in the car in its neat carry bag, ideal for a emergency on the side of the road, Red LED's remember for the full emergency don't forget...

MORE TO COME.

In the meantime check out the Unilite website or Twitter feed...

Conclusion:

Good Points: Great non slip headband, easy on/off, bright LED's, fast charge time, long battery life, pouch to keep it in when not in use, dust proof, water proof.

Bad Point's: Turns on at its brightest setting, could do with starting at the lowest setting.. and that is the only thing I could criticize about the HL-4R head torch.

Using the HL-4R as a cycle helmet head torch

To use as a cycle head light mounted to your cycle helmet, simply remove the headband and replace with a Velcro strap

Pass the Velcro around the holding tabs on the rear of the HL-4R and pass it through the vents on the cycle helmet..

Pass it through and tighten to the desired tension.

The HL-4R has a tilt on the front so you can easily angle to the right sight line needed for the ride.

Works a treat, ideal to use with a handle bar mounted cycle light...

Footnote: Just a mention on the 3M adhesive pad that comes with the HL-4R Head torch, I found it was not possible to fit this adhesive pad to a open vented cycling helmet, as the surface is not flat enough to stick the pad to, so the review has not been done on the 3M adhesive pad fixing, it would be ideal for a snow boarders or a skate boarders helmet, and also a builders hard hat....
I used a Velcro strap with a loop on the end to fit to the HL-4R and attach to the helmet..

Louri Frame Strap

Louri Frame Strap Review

UK Made.
Strong.
Lightweight.
Various Designs.
Durable.
Easy fit.

More than just a Velcro strap.

Louri frame strap along side the Louri Saddle strap.
As you can see the Orange frame strap is longer than the incredible saddle strap, it is still designed and made along the same design criteria as the saddle strap, the frame strap is a very clever piece of kit for any road or mountain bike rider, once you have one of these on your frame it allows you to store items easy and secure on any kind of ride... ideal for the mountain bike with tight spaces for the water bottle etc.. even the E-Bike,

Take a look at the Louri frame strap fitting video on YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=86&v=LoOGNuBThKU

Easy fitted to your frame, it is worth pointing out that the Louri frame strap is not designed to fit around your seat post, hence the name"Frame Strap".....
The Louri Frame strap can hold a lot of item's like the inner tube's, bike pump, tools, and a lot more, I found it was great using it along with there Saddle Strap, (see my previous review https://harlowcyclingpage.blogspot.com/2018/11/louri-saddle-strap.html ) use the saddle strap to hold your inner tube, pump, tool etc, that will leave the frame strap free to carry what ever else you would like to take a long, its even gentle enough to hold your Banana!

Usual place for the Banana on the ride,

Add the Banana to the Louri frame strap, it will be held secure and easy to get at when needed.

Add a bike lock for the ride and you can see the benefit of the Louri frame strap.

Banana after a ride.

I tried to pack away a cycling jacket as a test to see how well it would store and hold the jacket on the ride, and I am very glade to let you all know it stored and held the jacket in place very well on my bike ride.

turned out warm, no where to keep your jacket, I used to roll it up and tie it around my waist, not anymore with the Louri frame strap.

Jacket held in place, easy to store.

Do you own a IBS (Independent Bike Shop) or want to be a distributor for the Louri range, simply drop them a line and help to #DitchThePack

Louri Saddle Strap

https://www.cyclorise.com/louri.html

In the past I have done a few reviews on saddle bag's, all of them have been great products from various well named brands, but the Lori Saddle Strap is something a bit different. it is not a saddle bag, it is a Strap!

Quality is Louri.

Made in the United Kingdom.

This review is on a Louri Saddle Strap, and I must admit I was very skeptical to its quality and use, I thought it was just a over sized length of Velcro strap, but I was wrong, very wrong, the detail that has gone into the design of the Louri Saddle Strap is amazing, the Louri Saddle Strap has two elastic cords this is designed to hold the innertube steady and secure while the strap is padded to the seat frame from getting scratched and any movement, so all secure.

Its made in the UK.

I usually carry in my saddle bag a set of tyre levers, spare innertube, and a multi tool kit and in my rear pocket a very small cycle pump, the reason its in my back pocket is simply because it will not fit in the saddle bag, so the pump could easily be left at home if I forget to place it in my pocket, so I need a check list before leaving the house for a ride.. If I'm wearing a cycling jacket and it starts to get warm out on the ride, I have nowhere to keep it so I simply remove it and roll it in a length and tie the arms around my waist, and keep on adjusting it every few miles, as I do not cycle with a back pack unless I am out all day.. Louri has a solution to this problem with there Frame Strap. (Review coming soon).

This review is on a Louri Saddle Strap that retails for around the £19.99 mark, but with the help of Google you can find it at a cheaper price, not that is is expensive at the retail price, this is one strap that screams "Quality" and as a bonus, it's "Made in England" !
The Louri Saddle Strap comes in various designs.

I first came about the Louri Saddle Strap on Linkedin, and my first thought was "It's just a over priced Velcro Strap" ! How wrong I was and have to eat "Humble Pie" and apologize for thinking this! The Saddle Strap is a well designed and manufactured piece of cycling kit,

FITTING

The good thing about the Louri Saddle strap is the easy way you can add items to the strap,

Open the strap with the grippy patch facing up.

Place your tools and tyre levers around the stretchy strap and then place the rest of the items in the strap.

It should now look like this photo.

I simply placed the ends of the strap through the saddle and brought it around to the underneath of the saddle and back up through the loop and around!
Took me several attempts to get it in place, but once I got the hang of it, it was easy!
Best advice watch the Louri Fitting Video..

Once the strap is tightened it is secure.

Looks nice and neat.
Mini Pump now added.

The Louri Saddle Strap sits under your seat to replace your saddle bag, I have tested it on the open road, cycled along the towpath, I have even gone out on a ride around the Epping Forest trails and I can tell you all the Louri strap did not need any kind of adjustment, or even to be moved in postilion, it stayed just where I had put it, and the contents were still there!

On one ride I was on it started to rain, this I thought was going to be the Louri Saddle Straps downfall, But I was wrong there, the bike was dirty and muddy, but to my amazement the strap was dry, and the contents were dry as well.

VERDICT:

A very well designed and manufactured alternative to the saddle bag that will take all your items safe and secure, its just a case of trying to get across the usefulness of the Louri strap range, take a look at there website, it has fitting information and great youtube videos
